another turning point, a fork stuck in the road...
man, what a weird and wonderful 2 or 3 weeks... i barely know where to start.
a.) two weeks ago i had my last couple of deliberation sessions for heights. alas, i submitted two works and they were turned down. no prob. i've been published four times in three issues. it would have been nice but oh well. the criticism was constructive and i'll only grow from the experience.
note: though not on the next heights, i'm on the current ish and will be on the seniors folio. check it out. ;) hehe shameless plug.
b.) two weeks ago i was at the opening of a one man art show in shangri-la. it was at my tita's gallery and i went with my mom and our two architects/interior designers/family friends. while there i was able to shake hands with Malang. MALANG. i was giddy beyond belief and couldnt help but text my art editor and Rica the second after i stopped shaking his hand.
c.) last week was seniors' final exam week. monday was my bahasa finals and i F-d it beyond belief. i tanked. but i could've cared less.
d.) wednesday of the seniors finals week i had another finals. orals for my philo. and *gasp* i F-d it terribly. the one thesis statement i didnt understand (which was based on Marcel, the philosopher i like the least) was the one i drew. that was my first F in any oral exam. ever. but i was just happy the 12 minutes were over. no excuses. life goes on.
e.) thursday morning was a zai jian (Chinese: see again) party for my Mandarin 2 class. it was fun. it's one of the few classes that i've ever had that wasnt with blockmates and was still actually quite bonded. new friends who will be missed but never forgotten. *sniff* *sniff*
f.) thursday afternoon of finals week was the launch for the 1st regular issue of heights Vol. 52. i had a work in there. i was also asked to introduce the art gallery for that issue. it was fun. good food.
g.) Friday, EDSA anniv day. no classes but i was in school. it was a surreal day. at 830am, i had practice for a fashion show i was going to be modeling in. i arrived early. mp3 player turned up. stack of peanutbutter oatmeal cookies - i cooked myself - within reach. heights issue capturing my attention. i was sitting on one of the SEC benches when a white stray cat jumped up on the bench and took a nap on my lap. cool!
the practice for the fashion show went on till about 12. they made us walk. i learned a new word, "establish"; fashion industry lingo for stop and show off the clothes. it was really fun. on the plus side, the director who was showing us the ropes complimented me on my walk. hehe cool.
that evening was the cads concert. it was really good. it made me think back to my days in Kundirana and how it felt to be part of a production. it was also a farewell concert of sorts and i was waxing nostalgic.
and for martin, marjoe, brice, joe, richard... C.G. was there... ruuuunnn! PJ gon' kill you. hahaha
h.) last saturday. there was an EU graduation. a sort of recognition night for the graduating seniors. it was alright. kudos to all those who got awards. i was late and i didnt stay for the speeches. i did however stay for the food. cocktails on the CTC-SOM courtyard. while no final good byes yet the feeling that things were changing and ending and fast.
i.) last sunday. i had to be in school from morning in order to practice for that night's fashion show. however, people were really late and we ended up practicing at the venue after lunch instead. we practiced. got our "choreography" down. fitted clothes. semi-panicked to get things in order. make-up. hair.
the show started late but it was alright. the venue was decently filled. sure i had only two outfits to show off but hey i think i made the best of it. the UP ACTS people were really cool too. kindred spirits with tremendous talent. i applaud them. by the way, this was my modeling debut and Rica has it on tape. haha just message me if you want to see it ;)
j.) this week was clearance week. i learned that i got a B+ for my Mandarin 2. i was also able to get cleared. that means i should be graduating this march. yesterday and the day before that i spent with Rica. we just went to GateWay courtesy of the oh-so-convenient LRT. really fun. windowshopping for summer gear. yesterday we watched two movies, Constantine and Hitch. i've also had Taco Bell for dinner the past two days. mmmm... grilled stuft burrito...
well that's a run-down. nothing but a chronological compartmentalization of experiences infinitely more colorful but unfortunately greatly condensed. i really cant make you understand how the weeks went. definitely something lost in translation.
